{"id":396,"date":"2010-10-13T20:58:25","date_gmt":"2010-10-14T01:58:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mayhaps.com\/blog\/?p=396"},"modified":"2010-10-13T20:59:01","modified_gmt":"2010-10-14T01:59:01","slug":"magpie-approved-baubles-indeed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mayhaps.com\/blog\/2010\/10\/13\/magpie-approved-baubles-indeed\/","title":{"rendered":"magpie approved baubles, indeed!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I don&#8217;t have a blogroll, for the same reason that I don&#8217;t do #followfriday on Twitter &#8211; I would much rather know <em>why<\/em> you follow\/read someone than to just know that you <em>do<\/em> follow\/read them, and since I often don&#8217;t find that blogrolls or #ff tweets generally give me enough to go on to see if I want to read or follow someone, I don&#8217;t do them myself. I&#8217;m sure this breaks all sorts of blogging and tweeting &#8220;rules&#8221; in terms of increasing my audience or followers, but rules were made to be broken, I guess. Which is possibly an odd thing for someone who sometimes lives by rules to say &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>But, if I did have a blogroll, or did #ff, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clydesrebirth.com\" target=\"_blank\">Merl<\/a> would be on the list.<\/p>\n<p>Why, you ask?<\/p>\n<p><em>(Yeah, I knew that was coming)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Because &#8230;.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>She&#8217;s funny &#8211; she calls people squirrels, has a wife, and uses terms like magpie. I like a person who can see the lighter side of things and even poke fun at themselves every once in a while.<\/li>\n<li>She designs <a href=\"http:\/\/www.etsy.com\/shop\/clydesrebirth\" target=\"_blank\">amazing and unique jewelry<\/a>. I am lucky enough to own one piece. I may or may not be eyeballing an item or two in her newest lookbook.<\/li>\n<li>She quit her full-time job to design said jewelry. It takes guts to follow your dreams, and I love supporting independent, creative types when I can.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And as a bonus, she has a <a href=\"http:\/\/clydesrebirth.blogspot.com\/2010\/10\/dont-want-1-how-bout-100.html\" target=\"_blank\">very cool giveaway<\/a> on right now (ending the 17th).
